Cornerspotted: Franklin at Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights

New, 3 comments

This week's Cornerspotter may have been a bit too easy?bakurabw correctly identified Eastern Parkway and the Brooklyn Museum just three minutes after the post was published. Other commenters soon weighed in, noting that the intersection pictured was at Franklin Avenue. Eastern Parkway was completed in 1870, and the Brooklyn Museum building was opened in 1897. The photo was taken around 1910, not long before development of the area peaked in the 1920s. Today, no cute little farm houses remain; the city grid took over, and it's all brownstones and apartment buildings.
