The NHL's New York Islanders have had their name attached to several of the major NYC redevelopment schemes of the past few years, including Willets Point, and Marty Markowitz has long encouraged the team to consider Brooklyn. It's always a good idea to listen to Marty, and today Bruce Ratner and team owner Charles Wang will announce that the Islanders are moving to the Barclays Center. The move should happen in 2015, according to the Journal?that's when the Islanders will be out of their lease at Nassau Coliseum. We're assuming this is the absolute final death knell for Long Island's proposed Lighthouse megaproject. Too bad.
