Exploring the Past and Future of Rockaway's Bungalows

New, 4 comments

In 1933, the Rockaway Peninsula had over 7,000 bungalows?but by the 1980s, most had disappeared. A city rezoning has made it easier to protect homes in Rockaway Park, Far Rockaway, Rockaway Beach, Somerville, and Edgemere, and a new documentary, The Bungalows of Rockaway, focuses on memories of those bungalows and the current efforts to restore them. The Atlantic Cities has a look at the film's trailer, which we've embedded above.
