The Statue of Liberty reopens to the public today after a $30 million renovation that began last fall. Among the changes to the statue's interior are less steep steps, a new air-conditioning system, and updated fire alarms, bathrooms, and exit routes. In addition, the observation decks have been made wheelchair accessible. Today is also Lady Liberty's 126th birthday, and she looks like a woman half her age. You would never even know she just had work done. [Gothamist; photo by Sam Rohn]
