General Theological Seminary Sells Chelsea Conference Center

Chelsea's General Theological Seminary has been selling off buildings to address some, er, cash flow problems, and one building rumored to be heading for new ownership was the Desmond Tutu Conference Center. Now, a tipster passes along the deed for the building's sale to developer the Brodsky Organization. The building sold for $16 million, and the developer used the name "The Highline Hotel LLC" to make the purchase. If this means the building will continue to operate as a hotel, the neighbors might not be too pleased. The center already annoyed its fellow Chelsea denizens by continuing to rent out hotel rooms after promising the city that guest rooms would be open only to seminary affiliates.
