The townhouse at 41 Bond Street was still very much a work-in-progress when we visited the building in summer 2011. (It was also the building's sole unsold unit.) In the intervening months, developer DDG Partners purchased the 3,600-square-foot space and embarked on a renovation to create a 3BR, 3.5BA duplex. The result was on view as part of the City Modern weekend, and we couldn't resist a look. Photos in the gallery above.
The entry level of the duplex looks much like the model unit we saw last summer?not so surprising considering the developer was involved with the design of both spaces. The furnishings have a similar tactile feel, and there are still "significant quantities of marble." (No comment on the closet space, as we weren't allowed a peek this time around.) The real difference with the townhouse, of course, is that it's a duplex. We descended the stairs to the lower level and found it rather dark?but it was a bit of a gray day. And hey, it's designed as a guest suite, anyway.
