Palatial One Sutton Place Co-op Ups Its Ask to $18 Million

New, 2 comments

Apartment 7A in 1 Sutton Place South, the famous Rosario Candela-designed co-op building located right on the East River between 56th and 57th Streets, returned to market yesterday asking $18,000,000 and looking like it would be the perfect home for anyone who is the King of France in the 17th century. It's certainly more well lit than it was when it was listed earlier this year, although we're not sure if that alone justifies the $3,000,000 price increase. The 13-room apartment is clearly looking for a certain type of buyer, though?the type that actually feels like it's reasonable to live in a place with seven walk-in closets, three maid's rooms, 32 windows, and a 700-square-foot living room?so it could be possible that the higher price tag makes the apartment seem even more attractive. In any case, it's worth a try—the place certainly didn't seem to be selling before.
