Hotel Watch in the LES

The Lo-Down has a comprehensive look at the number of new hotels that have popped up in Lower East Side over the last six years. With 13 additional hotels in the works, the neighborhood's 1,000 hotel rooms will triple in the next several years. Many of the projects, like the glassy Wyndham Garden, have been hotly contested by the local community, but the chairman of the LES Business Improvement District opines, "The Lower East Side has really grown into a legitimate tourist destination."
