Archicritic Paul Goldberger has a very, very thorough overview of the plans for the New York Public Library in Vanity Fair, including a few details on Norman Foster's still-in-progress library makeover. Foster plans to create a new Fifth Avenue entrance through Gottesman Hall, "which will allow visitors to walk in a straight line through the Fifth Avenue doors through Astor Hall, through Gottesman Hall, and right into the new library, giving the building the classical, Beaux Arts central axis that it has never had."
