Madonna's UWS Co-op on Market for the Very First Time

New, 28 comments

The residents of the Upper West Side's Harperley Hall are already (quite happily) rid of Madonna, who decamped to her Upper East Side townhouse. Now Madge is making the separation official, putting her Harperley Hall duplex on the market for $23.5 million, Real Estalker and the Post report. And our first reaction is, well, eh. There's nothing particularly exciting about the design, and nothing that really says Madonna, either.
This is the apartment's first time on the market in the history of Harperley Hall, and that's because Madonna built the thing. After feuding with the co-op board, she was allowed to purchase another spread in the building to add on to the place she and Sean Penn had originally bought there. Then she brought in her younger brother, Christopher G. Ciccone, to design a space "that was elegant without being weak, peaceful without being boring," as he told Architectural Digest. Maybe it comes off more favorably in the Arch Digest post-makeover slideshow.
