FINANCIAL DISTRICT?One World Trade Center's spire is currently en route to New York City. The 408-foot long spire left Canada on a barge on November 16, and is expected to arrive in Port Newark early next week. The steel spire is currently in 18 pieces, and the barge is carrying the eight largest sections, which range in weight from five tons to 67 tons. The ten smaller pieces are arriving by truck. Spire-geeks can track the structure's journey via an online system "much like the way the world tracks Santa's travels on Christmas Eve." Once it arrives, installation will take approximately three months. [CurbedWire Inbox; official]
