Celeste Holm's Brentmore Duplex Listed for $13.95 Million

New, 5 comments

The eight-room duplex that belonged to actress Celeste Holm until her death four months ago at age 95 has been listed for $13,950,000, or 1,394 times the ten grand that Holm paid for the place in 1958, just after the building went co-op, according to the Times. Holm was inordinately fond of the apartment, according to one of her sons, although the 3BR, 3BA duplex is beautiful, so perhaps she was just ordinately fond of it. In her final years, Holm had been engaged in a legal battle with her family after she and her fifth husband, a singer/waiter half her age who she married in 1999, attempted to overturn a trust set up for one of her sons. The ensuing litigation left her $51,000 in arrears on her Brentmore maintenances fees, although she was assured by the board that she would not be evicted. The apartment was apparently unharmed by the fire in Robert De Niro's apartment which occurred two floors below a month before Holm's death.
