Hotel Makes Gingerbread Model of Collapsed One57 Crane

New, 10 comments

Here's a less frightening view of the collapsed One57 crane (unless you're a dentist): it's entirely made out of gingerbread. The gingerbread crane ("candycrane," as it's cutely called on the model itself) now sits in Le Parker Meridien Hotel, DNAinfo reports. The sugary model crane is five feet tall and was baked by the hotel's executive chef. The plan for this season had been to do the Statue of Liberty?the theme for the hotel's gingerbread structures show is "Landmarks Around the World"?but then the hotel was evacuated after the crane collapse, and the candycrane was the result. It took five people two weeks to build, and there are Rice Krispy Squares inside.
