The apartments in the Upper West Side's Hotel des Artistes were split between residential units and artists' lofts when the building was constructed in 1915. In the intervening years, the lofts have become residential, too, leading to some interesting layouts. A Curbed operative passed along the newest apartment to hit the market in the building, a six-room duplex seeking $5.85 million. (Maintenance is, brace, $7,347.) Here's a bit of brokerbabble:
Pass through the intimate foyer ( lined with closets) and be swept away by the drama of this massive, light filled, 42'.7x17'.8 living/dining room with its open northern exposure including a peek of the park. The well planned chefs kitchen, with beautiful walnut and burl cabinetry, has quartz counters, a vented Viking stove, two Miele wall ovens and two sinks. It has the versatility to be open to the dining room or fully closed off for a more formal or catered dining affair. The downstairs also has an elegant den/guest room with a windowed bath. Tucked away upstairs is the master bedroom with a luxurious ensuite quartzite bath with deep tub and separate shower and a spacious second bedroom with a large sitting area, generous closet space and ensuite onyx bath.
