Just three years ago, Bed-Stuy's 333 MacDonough Street was possibly endangered after the collapse of a load-bearing wall at nearby brownstone. But as of yesterday, 333 MacDonough is instead in contract at a record price for the neighborhood, $1.34 million. (That's $45,000 more than the asking price.) There was a significant renovation involved, as the Daily News explains, focusing on the restoration of original pocket doors, wainscotting, hardware, molding, and other details. The result, a 2BR plus two rentable 1.5BR apartments, is a blank slate with what we'd acknowledge to be rather excellent bones. This is probably a good sign for other townhouse renovations in the neighborhood, including the one now seeking 413 percent more money.
