Contrary to initial reports that real estate personality Billy Macklowe would be buying a co-op at 950 Fifth Avenue, the unit in question is no longer in contract. The Observer wonders whether the board said no to the sale on the grounds of price?the Macklowes apparently got a discount on the $27.5 million ask?and that seems as logical an explanation as any. For anyone who wants some parquet floors, library with built-ins, and custom cabinetry, the place is back on the market. [NYO; previously]
