LaGuardia Airport is, for lack of a better term, a hellhole. Even its GM thinks so, saying it's "beyond its useful life," and "it's virtually obsolete in every functional area." So we can thank our lucky stars that the long-talked about renovation is finally happening. The $3.6 billion facelift will take place over the next six to ten years, and it will upgrade and expand facilities to finally allow for more passengers. The place was built to hold 8 million people annually, but it currently serves 11 million, and that number will go up to about 17.5 million by 2030. [Queens Courier; previously]
