FINANCIAL DISTRICT?Tips from 1 West Street are still a regular in our inbox, and this week, tenants reported that the building had its third blackout, with another expected tomorrow. One tenant writes, "Moinian still wants us to pay full rent and refuses to give any rent abatement given the multiple problems we continue to face after our return."
A large generator on the 17 Battery Street shorted out and cause a fire early this morning. Of the problem, a resident writes, "This morning there was a fire in the building. On top of the enormous hassle of living in and paying for this "luxury building" that's not quite luxurious, it is clearly unsafe too. Management does not seem to be aware that it is their job to keep the building a habitable place to live, let alone a safe one, and only seems concerned with collecting rent and alienating tenants."
