Modern East Village Condos Go Head to Head in the Deathcage

New, 12 comments

Imagine you have around $1,600,000 to spend on an apartment and you've narrowed it down to two condos in the same neighborhood. How do you make up your mind? The answer is simple: you shove them into a metaphorical cage and let them battle it out until one emerges victorious. It's time for Real Estate Deathmatch.

Address 125 East 12th Street #2A 62 East 1st Street #5S
Price $1,600,000 $1,525,000
CC/Taxes $1,603 $1,041
Square Footage 1,200 1,027
Beds, Baths 2, 2 1, 1
Floor 2 5

Just in terms of the numbers, 125 East 12th Street has this one with twice 62 East 1st Street's beds and baths. East 1st makes up for that, however, with 35 percent lower monthly costs, a slightly bigger living room, and an additional den. East 12th's master bedroom features a walkin closet while East 1st's has a dressing room, so we'll just call that one a wash, but East 12th may pull into the lead with its raised dining area. The extra bathroom doesn't hurt either (although the smaller kitchen isn't helping its case.)
