Looking Back at the Original Ads for the World Trade Center

New, 1 comment

Architectural historian Anthony W. Robins first published Classics of American Architecture: The World Trade Center?which included much Port Authority archival material?in 1987. Now, the Times City Room blog notes, Robins has published an updated edition, this time including a number of marketing brochures and other documents about the original WTC towers. The language of some of the marketing materials is, as City Room points out, particularly heartbreaking, like the ads for the observation deck. "The closest some of us will ever get to heaven," one of them reads. Robins will be gradually publishing other original WTC documents online over the next year.
