Park Slope's former Montessori School became Brooklyn's most expensive house by a significant margin when it was listed last month for $25,000,000. Somebody thought better of that, however, and yesterday the asking price was slashed by $7,000,000, down to "only" $18,000,000 (also still available for rent at $65,000/month.) It remains Brooklyn's most expensive listing, which probably says more about the ridiculousness of the original ask than anything else. The 23-room mansion is being marketed as a potential commercial property by its brokers, who are also touting its undeveloped air rights. The property is within the boundaries of the Park Slope Historic District, however, so any additions or changes to the exterior would have to make it past the Landmarks Preservation Commission.
