Platform screen doors, the glass walls with doors that separate passengers from trains on airport trains and Seoul's Metro, are the only real way to prevent people from falling or being pushed onto the subway tracks. But the MTA isn't planning to install any. The screen doors have a few fans at the transit agency, but the people who make decisions are worried about the costs and "operational challenges," like the fact that there aren't set door locations for all subway cars.
