The Upper East Side's Community Board 8 rejected part of the redesign proposal for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which is hoping to redo its Fifth Avenue plaza. Why? The board deemed the museum's proposed tables, chairs, and red umbrellas too much like a Starbucks. The board did, however, approve new lighting, fountains, and ticket and refreshment kiosks. The redesign proposal heads to the Public Design Commission next. [DNAinfo]
