Chinatown's New Elevated Park Will Look Like This

New, 7 comments

Here now, a High Line copycat in our very own backyard: an elevated park planned for Chinatown. Chinese artist Xu Bing has just finished designs for the park on Forsyth Street, and DNAinfo has a look. The plans call for "a tranquil community gathering space ringed by bamboo and weeping cherry trees," with calligraphied poetry in English and Chinese on some of the steps leading up to the park. The sketches don't show us much, but the park?which should open in summer 2014?got a unanimous thumbs up from a Community Board 3 committee this week.
