And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.
1) DoBro: A knowledgeable Racked tipster writes in with some detail on what's happening with the new signage on Fulton Street's Offerman Building. One Curbed-y note: "United American Land (led by the charismatic Laboz family) is the developer behind all this, and, of course, the Soho Mews condo, meaning the firm that is bringing TJ Maxx to Fulton Street is the same one that sold Justin Timberlake his penthouse. Since the top floors of the Offerman Building are supposed to go residential one day, maybe Brooklyn can get the poor man's Justin Timberlake?"
2) East Village: Obscura Antiques & Oddities lost its East Village location at the end of January, but a new spot is coming soon. Bonus: it will be in a former funeral home. Guesses as to which one?
2) UWS: Filene's Basement closed just after the holidays, and the chain's Upper West Side space?on Broadway between 79th and 80th streets?officially has a new tenant: DSW.
