An Apple a Day Helps Grand Central; Fashion Week Nears

And now, the latest from Racked NY, covering shopping and retail from the sidewalks up.

1) UWS: Fashion Week starts Thursday, which means the tents are up at Lincoln Center Plaza. The main improvement over last year: a better backstage entrance.

2) Midtown East: The Grand Central Apple Store has been good news for neighboring restaurant The Steakhouse NYC: sales are up 7 percent, and if the white bags are any indication, the new customers are Team Mac.

3) Greenwich Village: Racked takes an in-depth look at the changing retail landscape of Eighth Street. New openings: Stumptown Coffee, a boutique hotel, a textile store with weaving classes, and a wine bar.
