$88 Million 15 CPW Apartment Reappears in Family Lawsuit

New, 2 comments

We thought the book was closed on Sanford Weill's 15 Central Park West penthouse, now that the deal is done for the exact asking price of $88 million. Not so fast! The apartment is now the subject of a lawsuit, the Observer reports. Elena Rybolovleva alleges that her ex-husband, fertilizer magnate Dmitry Rybolovlev, bought the apartment (apparently for his daughter) through an LLC intended to hide assets from her. He "fraudulently transferred property acquired during his marriage?in violation of a Swiss Court Order to his own personal use," according to the suit.

So what's Rybolovleva asking for? She'd like to be included in a "constructive trust" over the unit?which, her lawyer tells the Post, her daughter would never live in, even if she did go to school in New York. "The apartment is large enough to house her whole undergraduate class," lawyer David Newman points out. Family squabbles aside, at least Rybolovlev's purchase could be considered a charitable contribution.
