Deadly Columbia Collapse

A building that was being demolished as part of Columbia University's ambitious expansion plans collapsed this morning, trapping three people and killing one construction worker. First responders pulled two survivors and a worker's body from the rubble of 606 West 131st Street. Manhattan BP Scott Stringer released a notice that said that said there were existing violations filed against the site with the Department of Buildings for "failure to safeguard all persons and property affected by demolition activities, and for demolition without a permit."
