When you're a rich guy or girl renting a 23-foot-wide, 14-room, 7,500-square-foot mansion just off Fifth Avenue on the Upper East Side, filling all that space with furniture can be a downright pain in the ass. This one, at 26 East 80th Street, rents for $50,000 per month, but tries to ease the pain of furnishing by offering to come furnished for an additional $20,000 per month. Um, what? Just to be clear, that's $240,000 in after tax dollars per year for right to borrow some dining stools, a couple of beds, and, yes, some presumably priceless antiques. Up until a few weeks ago, the 1888 townhouse was up for sale, asking $18.5M, a price that had gone without reduction since the place was first listed back in September 2010.
