The rental apartments at 220 Water Street advertise themselves as "Genuine Dumbo," and photog Will Femia headed over to the building this week to test that slogan. Move-ins at 220 Water?formerly the Hanan & Son shoe factory?began at the end of February, and the studio through two-bedroom units are asking between $3,150 and $6,150/month. Like other adaptive reuse projects nearby, the building has "restored accents" like brick walls and concrete and wood plank ceilings with original beams. Genuine Dumbo?
For the amenities, the developers took a more contemporary approach. The lobby has a coffee bar and waterfall, and there's a roof deck with a fireplace, a yoga room, a dog washing room, and parking. Not all of the amenities are finished, so please mentally remove the plywood from the gallery above.
