Tribeca Associates and Starwood Capital closed on Midtown's former Donnell Library site last summer, and they've been prepping behind the scenes ever since. Now the Post reveals that foundation excavation could begin next week. So what can we expect out of this $400 million project?
Floors 4 through 12 will be a luxury hotel, and floors 14 through 45 will be condos. On the lower floors? 29,000 square feet of library space to make up for what the NYPL has lost from the Donnell. The NYPL wants that space ready for a move-in by 2015, which means the building could go up quickly. Enrique Norten and Skidmore Owings & Merrill have both been linked to the project, but we still don't know what it will look like. The rendering shown at right is just an early one, but we're keeping it on file until we see something newer. (Hint, hint.)
