Daughter of Last Bear Stearns CEO Lists $33.5M UES House

New, 18 comments

Alison Schneider may not be a boldfaced name—except, apparently, to the jealous parents at the 92nd Street Y—but she is the daughter of one of the biggest losers in the financial crisis, Bear Stearns CEO Jimmy Cayne. Cayne, worth $1.6B prior to the crash, lost $1B on Bear stock alone. Of course, the self-made man and bridge player didn't need to support his daughter. Alison married hedge funder Jack Schneider and purchased the massive mansion at 10 East 75th Street from the Hewitt School for $8.25M back in 2002. Since then the place has undergone an extensive renovation, with input from architect Peter Pennoyer and designer Victoria Hagan. The sprawling mansion now measures more than 13,000 square feet, with six bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, roof deck, state-of-the-art security system, and Crestron automation throughout. That renovation must have been mighty expensive, because the new asking price sits at a sky-high $33.5M.
