Moby Lists Renovated Bond Street Penthouse for $6.5M

New, 14 comments

Moby?DJ, photographer, occasional musician, and unlikely real estate baron?has admirable taste in property. Not only did he once own a castle on the Upper West Side (sold in 2008 for $6.7 million), but he also owns a penthouse at 7 Bond Street. The Journal explains that Moby spent $3.75 million on the property, a combo unit, in 2009, and has since given it a thorough renovation, "ripping out a warren of small rooms that were painted pink. He created a 37-foot-long great room, with 19-foot ceilings and a large skylight." (An old listing has some pics of the pre-renovated apartment.) 7 Bond Street #6CD, revised edition, is now for sale again at an ask of $6.5 million. Moby confesses to the Journal that he hasn't had much luck profiting on his real estate holdings, only just breaking even after renovations. But perhaps he's hitting the market at the right time for Bond Street.
The listing pics don't show the place in a particularly favorable light:
