PRO-CRO HEIGHTS—Washington Avenue-Prospect Heights Assocation (WAPHA) and Make Music New York (MMNY) will market the first day of summer on June 21st this year by producing 20 outdoor concerts in Prospect/Crown Heights. Local merchants will supply the outdoor space for these musical acts, which will primarily take place on their sidewalks. This is the third year MMNY and WAPHA have coordinated to bring the summer-starter sets to the neighborhood. The musical line-up is still being ironed out, but all details will eventually published on the organizations' sites. [Curbedwire Inbox; MMNY; WAPHA]
UPPER WEST SIDE—Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer recommended conditional approval to zoning changes for Upper West Side merchants that accomplish the following things:
· Limit the size of new retail and commercial frontages along Columbus and Amsterdam avenues;
· Limit the size of frontages for new banks and residential lobbies along Broadway, Amsterdam and Columbus avenues;
· Require a minimum number of retail and commercial stores per zoning lot, and
· Create transparency requirements—such as window space—for new ground floor uses.
