The Lower East Side Business Improvement District will present Community Board 3 with plans for a new weekend street festival on Orchard Street to revitalize the old closed-street bargain district events that have gone on in the neighborhood for years. A re-imagined street event will feature neighborhood boutiques and food vendors that reflect the Lower East Side's changing commercial demographic, as well as a modern incarnation of the pushcart. The LES BID is looking for approval for a June 3rd trial event that it hopes could lead to more Sundays in the future. Tonight's presentation will feature renderings provided by Dub Studio like the one above. We love the one elderly scalie figure in this rendering, who looks confused about the absence of vendors tables offering socks for sale. He really needed to pick up a few pairs before heading off on his cruise to Miami. Now what will he wear with his sandals?
