So is the BP gas station at West Houston and Lafayette a landmark? The LPC seems to think so, arguing “As the gateway to SoHo, West Houston Street was determined to be so critical to its character that the vacant lots there . . .ought to be under [the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s] purview." The owner of the site just had his dreams of building a seven story condo on the corner lot dashed by this decision. Gone too far? [NYP]
