View the Skyline From the Skyline at 'Elevator View'

New, 3 comments

The vertical city is the subject and celebration of Stewart Mader's photo-blog Elevator View. The site features dozens of images of New York's skyline taken amidst the skyline. The resulting perspective is simultaneously grand and intimate. Mader began the project in January 2011 when he was working out of the 22nd floor of a midtown office building with views that included "Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Burberry Building, Palace Hotel, St. Bartholomew's Church, Park Avenue, and Madison Avenue (with glimpses of the rising 4 World Trade Center)." After capturing those buildings, Mader started bringing his camera along whenever he was visiting someplace with the potential for views. His site is meant to serve to deepen people's appreciation of the "importance, vitality, and awe-inspiring beauty of these urban landscapes."
