740 Park Duplex Sells for Record-Breaking $52 Million

New, 25 comments

Courtney Sale Ross' duplex at 740 Park Avenue didn't fetch the $60 million asking price, but the $52.5 million final sale still set the record for the most expensive co-op ever. The sale tops the previous record set back in 2008 at 1060 Fifth Avenue by a paltry $4.5 million. The Observer reports that Howard and Nancy Marks picked up the palatial pad, which spans two floors and has 30 rooms, including eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, two libraries, six terraces, and seven fireplaces. Mr. Marks is the chairman of Oaktree Capital, an investment group worth $75 billion?we'd wager that paying the total price in cash (per the co-op's rules) was no big deal.
