What $3,800 Can Rent You Around New York City

New, 8 comments

Welcome back to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various New York City neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today's price: $3,800/month.

? This Crown Heights 3BR, 1.5BA duplex is available for $3,700/month. It's 1,600-square-feet, with a huge living room, a wall of exposed brick, and a granite island in the kitchen area. There are no pictures of the upstairs, presumably where the three bedrooms are, so hopefully they're at least half as nice as the downstairs.

? This furnished 2BR on the Upper West Side is available for $3,900/month. It looks roomy throughout—even the kitchen doesn't appear to be too cramped—but the building itself seems a little on the stuffy side with its full-time elevator operator, no pets/smokers policy, and the fact that renters need board approval.

? The listing for this 2BR, 2BA penthouse apartment on Roosevelt Island is somewhat lacking in terms of interior shots, so we can't really tell if it's worth the $3,700/month or not. However, those floor-to-ceiling windows seem like a big plus considering the pretty much unbeatable views.

? In Fidi, this furnished 1BR is going for $3,750/month. The floors are all stained black and the bathroom is very sleek and modern, which seems very FiDi. It's also offering a rent-to-own option.

? This 2BR many-windowed apartment in Park Slope is going for $3,900/month. The building has a roof deck and very serious "no pets" policy. (You can tell it's serious because they typed it in all caps.)

? In Nolita, this 6th-floor 2BR is available for $3,750/month. The living room appears to be fairly spacious and, according to the listing, the apartment has "EXCITED CLUBS" steps away. Oh, good.
