Fans of the recently deceased Beastie Boy Adam Yauch want to rename a Brooklyn Heights park after the borough native. The park in question is currently named Squibb Park after Dr. Edward Robinson Squibb, a 19th century innovator who pioneered the purification of ether for use as an anesthetic and established Brooklyn's pharmaceutical industry. But what has done for us lately, right? "Pharmaceuticals?" said a park visitor to The Brooklyn Paper. "Doesn't seem as important as what MCA contributed to the world." There is a Facebook page, naturally, to generate grassroots support for a Yauch re-naming that currently has 952 "Likes".
