$30M Makeover at UN Plaza Hotel; A Lounge for Public Theater

NOHOThe Public Theater announced that its revitalized home on Lafayette Street will include a new 2,000 square foot lounge designed by the Rockwell Group. Named "The Library" to pay homage to the building's original use as NYC's first public library, the lounge will serve food and drinks on the theater's mezzanine level. TIMES SQUARE—Famed artist Kiki Smith is taking over the lot at 46th Street and 8th Avenue with an installation of colorful stained glass stars, ranging from 18 inches to six feet in height. The free standing sculptures are "a kaleidoscope of hand-blown, translucent, iridized, modeled, and cathedral glass" meant to "evoke the glamorous heyday of Broadway and the Theater District."
