Plans for the renovation of the New York Public Library are facing much criticism from readers, scholars, and artists, but there's one group that won't be commenting on the $300 million makeover: former library employees. Ex-employees sign a nondisparagement agreement when they leave, which binds them to never insult the library in exchange for their severance. As one censorship expert said, "It does raise the question, what are they afraid people are going to say?" [NYT]
