Brooklyn Artist Turns Her Bed-Stuy Pad Into a Work of Art

Armed with nothing more than $2 permanent black pens, one Brooklyn artist has turned the plain white walls of her Bed-Stuy apartment into an enviable interior design. Shantell Martin's freestyle drawings of people, places, shapes, and words adorn the walls of many companies, and she turned to her own walls when she realized her Moleskin notebook was no longer enough. Twenty-five pens and one year after later, the drawings inch across her bedroom walls and ceiling, creeping through her $800, one-bedroom apartment to find space in the laundry room and office, taking over everything from the doorknobs to her knickknacks.
