Plans for a pedestrian and bike bridge between Randall's Island and the Bronx can finally move forward, as the city reached a deal with Harlem River Yards Ventures, the developer of the Bronx site. For several years, the city Economic Development Corporation has sought an easement to use part of HRYV's land for the Randall's Island Connector, which was first proposed back in 2006. The quarter-mile landscaped pathway will span the Bronx Kill waterway to connect the railyard in Port Morris with the 400-acre recreational island. The developer would not discuss the details of the agreement, according to DNAinfo, but the EDC said that the project should break ground in 2013. Sidenote: the Harlem River Yards Ventures is the same land where Fresh Direct wants to move it's distribution center.
