Sherwin-Williams holds an annual student design contest, which is of interest to us because two of this year's winners chose to bestow their skills and selected Sherwin-Williams paint colors on New York City apartments. The third place winner in the residential category, Melany Bjorkman, submitted a conceptual design for an apartment at 15 Central Park West, shown above. The goal was a "bold and strong statement" and "a deep and controlled mood" in the living and dining rooms. Maybe not as cool as a oval bedroom custom-designed by Robert A.M. Stern, but "controlled boldness" sounds about right when it comes to 15 CPW.
The contest's residential Facebook fan favorite winner, Jessica Mazur, went for a conceptual brownstone design for an art historian/dealer whose home doubles as a gallery space. Here it is:
