A Williamsburg warehouse that housed salvaged architectural items for the Landmarks Preservation Commission from 1980 to just recently is being given over to affordable housing in Brooklyn. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development wants to salvage some affordable space in increasingly expensive Williamsburg by turning the LPC's recently decommissioned warehouse into an affordable housing development with 50 apartments, according to the Observer. The City has issued a Request for Proposal on the project and entries are due by the end of August.
