Farewell Huguette Homes; Full Tally for Heiress Apts. $55M

New, 3 comments

Reclusive heiress Huguette Clark's remaining two apartments—8W (3BR/6.5BA) and 8E (2BR/2BA)—are now in contract for $19 million and $12 million according to the WSJ, after the first 12th floor apartment sold for $24 million last month. When Clark died at the age of 104 last year, the sudden availability of her rarely-entered homes totaling 17,000 square feet on Fifth Avenue caused quite a stir and some estimated that all three apartments could could be worth $100 million. Clark barely lived in her Park Avenue ghost mansions though, preferring to spend her final 20 years in a nursing home. The lack of any inhabitants other than her doll collection led the apartments to become outdated, and some work will be required to bring them up to modern standards. This led the apartments to sell for jut a little over half of those initial exuberant estimates.
