Figment Festival Takes Over Governors Island With Oddball Art

New, 1 comment

New York City's favorite playground was transformed into a wacky world of art installations this weekend, as the annual Figment festival took place on Governors Island. There was a sprawling treehouse made from recycled materials, a mini-golf course with artist-designed holes, and a giant Pong video game that users controlled with their minds. The lawns were dotted with sculptures including Lady Liberty's lifesized face (which you could climb all over), five giant inflatable hands reaching up from the ground, and what looked like a huge rubberband, ready to fling participants halfway across the island. If you missed out on the fun, never fear: the sculptures and mini-gold course will remain up through September 23.
