FINANCIAL DISTRICT?Frank Gehry's glittering, twisty tower at 8 Spruce Street has been named the "Best New Building" by the Municipal Arts Society. The jury noted New York by Gehry for its "dynamic façade, a striking symbol of Lower Manhattan’s resurgence within the context of the neighborhood, and a dramatic and inspiring addition to the New York City skyline." The honor came as part of the 2012 MASterworks Awards, which also named the best restoration, best new urban amenity, and three neighborhood catalysts. [Curbedwire Inbox; Official and full]

WILLIAMSBURG?The McCarren Pool is set to open in two weeks, and this morning, a tipster sent along the above photo of a new piece of the project that was lowered into the pool via crane. We're not really sure what it is, but it looks like it could be some sort of concession stand? Information box? Panic room? Insight is welcome in the comments or to the tip line.
