Something Is Coming to Join the Rats at 35 Cooper Square

New, 7 comments

Visible from Curbed HQ, a lone backhoe is currently doing work at 35 Cooper Square, the site of the now-demolished historical building (and home of Asian Pub) that preservationists tried, and ultimately failed, to save last year. The fight for 35 Cooper Square, which in its later years was looking pretty meek and forlorn in between glassy giants Cooper Union and the Cooper Square Hotel, was an arduous one and even though it wasn't successful it's worth reading about, especially to learn about the house's rich history. We still don't know what developer Arun Bhatia is going to put there, but according to a couple signs on the fence, they've got a pretty serious rat problem.
